
Following is the recipe (or receipt, as you wish) for the Coffee Walnut cake. Hope everyone enjoys it! miz Dana *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* CAKE 6 oz butter at room temperature 1/2 cup plus 2 tblsp sugar 3 eggs 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour 1/3 cup walnut pieces 2 tsps instant coffee, dissolved in 1 tblsp boiling water and 1 tsp of milk, half&half or cream FROSTING Walnut halves to decorate 2 tblsp milk or half&half 2 tsps instant coffee 3 1/2 oz butter at room temperature 1 scant cup of confectioner's (powdered) sugar Two 8-inch cake pans, greased and floured Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit Beat butter and sugar together in a large bowl; beat in eggs one at a time; sift the flour into the butter mixture and then fold in the=2 0walnut pieces. Divide resulting batter between the 2 prepared cake pans and bake for about 20 mins. Let cool before frosting. For the frosting: Dissolve the instant coffee in the milk (or half&half) and let stand; cream the butter, and the confectioner's sugar together and then slowly pour in the coffee mixture and beat until well blended. Frost tops of layers only, stack one on the other and decorate with the walnut halves. |
